Custom Workshops & Seminars
Sporting Chance’s Education Department offers a range of seminars tailored to different audiences and ages within professional sport including first team squads, academies, staff, doctors, or any club staff whose role might in some way impact on the emotional or mental health of the athletes and former athletes that we support.
Some of the workshops we have developed include:
+ Emotional and Mental Health: Thoughts & Feelings and How they Work in Sport
+ Gambling Awareness and Protection
+ Substance Use and Misuse: Not Just About Now
+ Player Lifestyle: The Pitfalls and the Positives
Our Player Lifestyle seminar has become increasingly popular with professional sports clubs, sporting organisations and governing bodies who recognise the importance of giving the athletes in their care the information they need to avoid the destructive behaviour patterns that can develop in the pressure-cooker world of professional sport. It aims to show just how alcohol, other drugs, gambling, gaming and social media can negatively affect emotional health. It also outlines the warning signs for potential issues, guidelines for positive lifestyle choices and methods of support should problems arise. The seminar provides a mix of information, moments for self-reflection and the opportunity to hear, first-hand, the story of a current or former professional sportsperson who has experience of some of the topics being discussed. By relating some personal experience, we give the opportunity for participants to identify certain behavioural traits and discuss their feelings and thoughts around the issues raised.
Sporting Chance currently provides this service to our stakeholder organisations. We always welcome enquiries from those involved in any other form of professional sport who may be interested in finding out more about our range of educational seminars and how we might adapt them for their particular organisation.
We do not receive any funds directly from the gambling industry.
