Residential Support Worker - Job description
Overview
We have an exciting vacancy for an experienced support worker to join a team of skilled professionals within an abstinence-based residential clinic, a specialist service which offers valuable support to those in need.
About the Charity
Sporting Chance has a vision to be recognised as the leading provider of Mental Health Services, including addiction, for the world of elite and professional sports. It is a registered charity and has been established for over 20 years. We provide access to professional, safe, and confidential mental health services for individuals currently participating in elite and professional sport, those who have previously done so, and those involved in the landscape that enables elite and professional sport to function, such as coaching, medical, or officiating staff.
About the role
We require a part-time support worker to work in a lone-working capacity and occasionally alongside our clinical team. The role is to provide on-site support to current residents who are engaging in addiction and recovery-based residential treatment. The applicant will need to be flexible to fit around irregular work patterns, willing to work evenings, night shifts (in a sleepover capacity) and work some weekends. The role will include handling and accurately recording medication, documenting handover notes, supporting clients with daily living tasks, and accompanying clients to recovery meetings, both online and in person.
It is essential that applicants can demonstrate:
Training and experience in health and safety procedures
Training and experience in supporting vulnerable adults
A sound knowledge of abstinence-based recovery
A clean UK driving licence
Knowledge and experience in risk management.
Experience in record keeping and written/verbal communication.
Excellent communication skills
Experience and knowledge of working with a diverse group and current knowledge of the equality landscape
Experience of working within a strict framework of confidentiality.
Effective professional and personal boundaries.
Desired
Previous experience of engaging within the field of addiction/recovery
Qualifications in Health and Social Care
A caring and compassionate nature and genuine empathy
Experience in handling and accurately recording medication
Competent in basic IT skills.
Employment package
The successful candidate will be employed on a consultancy basis and will have to work a variety of different days and shifts, to support the staff and clients within our residential setting.
