We have an exciting vacancy for an experienced Counsellor, Counselling Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist to work within a team of professionals within the northern sector of our service.

Job Details

Job Title: Sporting Chance Counsellor / Therapist /Psychologist

Salary: £35,000 + Benefits

Contract type: 1 year maternity cover

Hours: 40 hours a week

Location: Based at our York office however flexibility and ability to travel necessary.

Start Date: Week beginning 5th June.


Employment package

The successful candidate will have the option to join the Sporting Chance Group Personal Pension and will be enrolled on to our Health Cashback Plan run by Simply Health. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum.

Sporting Chance is a registered charity and has been established for over 20 years. We aim to provide access and pathways to professional, safe and confidential mental health services for those who currently participate in elite and professional sport or have previously done so and for those who are involved in the framework that enables elite and professional sport to function such as coaching, medical or officiating staff.


About the role

We require a full-time therapist/counsellor/psychologist to cover maternity leave within our clinical services at Sporting Chance. The role is to provide a clinical approach and oversight services provided to our clients which include one to one counselling/therapy, completing comprehensive assessments, writing care plans, and writing professional reports. The role will also include delivering education workshops and presentations on mental health and emotional wellbeing.


Essential

It is essential that applicants are able to demonstrate:

  • A diploma in counselling or an equivalent or higher qualification appropriate to this role.

  • A minimum of two years client facing practice with individuals presenting with mental health concerns and addictions.

  • Experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and the care planning of an individual’s treatment/care.

  • An ability to write professional reports and maintain all records to a high standard.

  • A high level of skill and experience in delivering workshops and education seminars.

  • Experience of working with a wide range of mental health and emotional presentations.

  • A thorough understanding of community-based health care and specialist care provisions.

  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding principles and requirements.

  • A thorough understanding and evidence of practice providing services to a diverse client group and a current knowledge of the equality landscape.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A complete knowledge and evidence of practice of working within a confidential framework.

Desired

  • A full driving licence.

  • Experience of a client facing, triage or key working role in the field of mental health or public support.

  • Experience of initial contact screening and information gathering through telephone and email communication.

  • Experience of competing or working within elite or professional sport

  • Experience and/or qualification in other disciplines associated to mental health with a sporting context.
