Sporting Chance Summit Line Up Complete

Sporting Chance is delighted to announce that Dr Tim Rogers, Dr Jonathan Williams and Steve Johnson will all be speaking at the inaugural Sporting Chance Summit completing the line-up for 2023. The trio bring with them a wealth of experience working in the landscape of professional sport, and will add to the expertise on show at the event, which focuses on wellbeing and performance.


Dr Tim Rogers is an internationally recognised sports psychiatrist who has worked across the spectrum of mental health, wellbeing and performance within elite sport and dance. Tim supports both individuals and teams in Premier League football, in the Olympic and Paralympic Systems, elite rugby, cricket, tennis, and at the English National Ballet.

Having worked and trained in high performance environments, he understands the culture of professional sport and dance, and the unique pressures that come with this. Tim is a specialist member of the Sport Resolutions National Anti-Doping Panel. Tim is on the executive of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Sport and Exercise Special Interest Group.


Dr Jonathan Williams has worked as a team doctor in a variety of team sports since 2010. He is currently Chief Medical Officer to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Western Storm Cricket and Bristol Flyers Basketball. He also works as a team and tournament doctor with England Men Cricket, GB Hockey and GB Basketball.

Jonathan has twelve years’ experience as a team doctor in elite Rugby Union with Bristol Bears, seven seasons in Championship Football with Bristol City and has been a team doctor in The Indian Premier League cricket with Rajasthan Royals. Jonathan is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary London University, where he completed his MSc in SEM in 2009/10. He was previously a GP for more than twenty years, and has much experience of addressing Mental Health issues in the non-sporting as well as the sporting environment.


Steve Johnson is currently the Player Wellbeing Advisor to the Premier League, the National

Rugby League in Australia, Sport Integrity Australia, Soldier Recovery Centre in Brisbane, and is a member of the League Managers’ Association Advisory Board.

Steve holds M.Sc. in Psychology and M.A. in Management and is a registered member of both the Australian Psychological Society and the American Psychological Association. He works as a performance psychologist and as a wellbeing consultant, boasting a vast experience in organisational culture, leadership and wellbeing.
